Revanth Reddy sets a 2027 deadline to complete irrigation projects

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy set a two-year deadline on Wednesday until June 2027, completing all incomplete irrigation projects on the Krishna River in Telangana and said irrigation officials must set goals accordingly.
Revanth Reddy chaired the review meeting on irrigation issues, and he also directed the Finance Department to ensure that projects without funds have priority. Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar participated in meetings with Jal Soudha at the Irrigation Department Headquarters, G. Chinna Reddy, Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission, and senior Irrigation Officials and Finance Department.
He said, S. The Jaipal Reddy Palamuru-rangareddy Lift Irrigation Program (PRLIS) should be completed first and must be completed within 18 months. He also sets a deadline for the Koilsagar lift irrigation program in June 2026.
The Chief Minister said those that should be completed by the end of this year are the Kalvakus Weightlifting Irrigation Plan, the Jawahar Nittmpadu Plan and the Rajiv Bima Lati Rat Irrigation Plan.
Given that 70% of the state’s basin is in the state, he called on officials to step up efforts to ensure Telangana’s share of the Krishna River Water. “This fact should drive our efforts in the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal to obtain the state’s due share of the river water,” he said.
He added that since Andhra Pradesh used 90-foot waters of the Godwari Basin to conduct the Pattisemama project, officials should strive to obtain an equal amount of water from the upper part of the river.
