Vijayapura’s congressional workers have filed a complaint against MLA’s Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal, which has been expelled from the BJP for suspected insults of Mahatma Gandhi.

The complainant Allabaksh Dongarisab Badeghar said Mr Yatnal claimed that Gandhiji had divided the country and created Pakistan only for Muslims. He also said that it was a matter of shame for the Indians to install Gandhiji’s statue. .
The police registered the first information report under BNS Section 196 (promoting hatred among different groups) and 353 (producing, publishing or recurrent statements, false information or rumors that may lead to public mischief, inciting hatred or undermining harmony between different groups).
