The distant rumble of discontent with the recent reconstruction of the Kerala Congress Committee (KPCC) appears to have closed on Thursday (May 15, 2024), with MP party member K. Sudhakaran publicly expressing his removal from his senior position in the decision of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

In a free reply with a reporter from Kannur, Mr Sudhakaran said that the party’s Kerala department had allegedly expressed disturbing the significant changes made by the recent KPCC thoroughly.

(It is worth noting that former KPCC president VM Sudheeran proposed in Thrissur on Wednesday that the party discussion would make more sense if they proceed before the reorganization and other leaders can clarify their position as soon as possible.

“Unconscious”

Mr Sudhakaran told reporters that the AICC had “trying to evacuate him from national politics” during a stroke, by using him as a permanent invitation to the Congressional Working Committee (CWC).

He said he hopes to continue as KPCC president. “I don’t want to be deleted. The AICC’s decision made me pointless. It caused me serious mental distress,” he said.

Mr Sudhakaran said Kerala AICC Secretary-General Deepa Dasmunsi had sought relocation under health conditions.

He added: “I don’t know who gave Ms. Darthmusi the unfounded.

Mr Sudhakaran said neither AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge nor Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had hinted that they would remove him as KPCC president. He said: “When I met him, Mr. Gandhi hugged me and Mr. Harge was in New Delhi. Mr. Karge invited me to his office for tea.”

Mr. Sudhakaran was frustrated that the party did not formally dispatch him. However, he said he did not want such formal gestures.

CM candidates

Mr. Sudhakaran also expressed his desire to participate in the 2026 General Assembly elections. He said when Congress was on the left Democratic front “front line soldiers”. Frontal (LDF), he will sue the party workers in the competition and give them confidence with a fierce fighting spirit.

Mr Sudhakaran said Congress leaders were eager to become the United Democratic Front (UDF).

“At present, there is no serious discussion about this situation. Several people covet this position, but how many people can fulfill their wishes is an open-ended question. The AICC will take over the final call,” Mr. Sudhakaran said.

President of the new KPCC

Mr Sudhakaran said the new KPCC president Sunny Joseph (MLA) was neither his nominee nor his standardist.

“I promoted Mr. Joseph at the party. I’m very satisfied that he replaced me. We have a good personal relationship,” he added. “It seems like Mr. Joseph is not promoted to President of the KPCC like other candidates.”

Mr Sudhakaran said his parliamentary base remains loyal to him. He added: “I am a resourceful leader. I touched the hearts of ordinary party workers and they rewarded them.”
