Electronic tag removed from Nicolas Sarkozy of France: Prosecutor

Sarkozy installed the tag in February instead of being jailed for a year for corruption, a former French head of state.
But given his age, the 70-year-old can apply for early parole, which was awarded Wednesday after just three months of service.
France wore it for a year after the Supreme Court of Appeals ordered Sarkozy to rule that he had committed illegal attempts to obtain favors from a judge.
Nicolas Sarkozy, who has been plagued by legal issues since leaving office in 2012 after his defeat as presidential election in 2012, said he is innocent and is referring the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
The prosecutor’s office said the removal of the tag was related to conditions, including an obligation to report travel abroad, comply with the subpoena and accepted visits from probation officials. Dictator Moamer Kadhafi.
