Hyderabad:GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan visited Jawaharnagar’s main solid waste disposal and disposal facilities to review its operations. He was accompanied by other commissioner (Sanitation) Raghu Prasad and executive engineer (solid waste management) Sreenivasa Reddy. They inspected the dumping floor, compost units, compressed biogas and waste to energy plants. This is managed by Hyderabad Integrated MSW Ltd (HIMSW) and has processed municipal solid waste to restore compost, biogas and electricity.
Karnan stressed the need to relieve the burden on the Jawahanagar facility. He asked officials to speed up the development of decentralized waste disposal units in Pyaranagar and Dundigal. Later, Karnan held a meeting with the Rao Nagar Division of the Resident Welfare Association in Bhavaninagar and discussed the citizenship issues and measures needed to improve local infrastructure.
