Mission DWCRA group converts wet waste to compost, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu told officials

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to speed up the development of action plans for effective waste management to keep villages clean and allocate the responsibility to convert wet waste into on-site compost to the DWCRA (Women and Children Development in Rural Areas) community.

Mr. Naidu said at a review meeting in the Secretariat that waste should be collected from the houses every day, and the wet waste should be converted into compost and the dry waste should be handed over to the agency for disposal.

He also ordered officials to set up 52 clusters across the state (two per region) to perform waste ratings without having to dump waste on road margins.

The Chief Minister told officials that the entire waste disposal system should be simplified by October 2 and awards should be given to Gram panchayats and individuals who perform well in waste management on a given date.

He said the Panchayati Raj Department, Swachha Andhra Corporation and the AP Pollution Control Commission should do their best to achieve the expected results.

Circular Economy Policy

Mr Naidu hopes to study how waste in agriculture and waste generated in the Allied sector promotes a circular economy and draft a circular economy policy based on the Rajasthan model.

In addition, he stressed the need to speed up the construction of waste to energy plants in Nellor, Rajamondri, Kadapa and Kurnur.
