Members of several urban local institutions and rural local institutions have called on the 16th Finance Committee to freely grant them funds to improve public infrastructure.

Members at Tirupati’s 16th Finance Committee member Soumya Kanti Ghosh on Thursday called for discussion on the development of engineering and public facilities such as sanitation, roads, drinking water and drainage.

C&DD Director P. Sampath Kumar, Panchayat Raj and Additional Commissioner for Rural Development Sudhakar Rao, Regional Collector S. Venkateswar and Tirupati (MCT) Commissioner N. Mourya attended the meeting chaired by Ghosh and attended S. Goutham Allada, Joint Secretary of the Finance Committee.

Members requested funding to local agencies to improve civic infrastructure and pay green ambassadors to ensure balanced development of towns and villages. They want the Finance Committee to estimate the current population of towns and villages, rather than based on the 2011 census.

Mr. Ghosh later visited the integrated solid waste management plant in Thukivakam and inspected the disposal, compost and debris management processes.
