The Supreme Court of India refused to accept a petition for the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Friday, May 16, 2025, accusing Colonel Sofia Curesi of the release of Deepfake videos. PIL seeks to establish a panel of experts under court monitoring to draft modeling methods to handle such online content.

Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotiswar Singh agreed with the petitioner Narendra Kumar Goswami, which is a “serious issue” but said the Delhi High Court, led by the Chief Justice, is also dealing with the Delhi High Court.

The substitute said: “The Delhi High Court has heard of this question over the years.

Mr Goswami said he was upset about the circulation of Ms Qureshi’s Deepfake video, which was part of the team that introduced the Sindoor Operation. He believes that many fake videos of Army officials have been circulated online.

Madhya Pradesh BJP Minister Sparks Row made remarks on Sofiya Qureshi; state units of political parties say: “No one has the right to say anything”

The bench said the cybercriminals were so fast that a new video would appear before the petitioner left the courtroom. The Supreme Court asked the High Court to convene listeners to the petitioner and listen to his advice on this issue.

“We do not think it is necessary to enjoy this petition and bring parallel proceedings. The petitioner was freely demoted to the Delhi High Court to seek his lawsuit as an intervener and assist in the matters pending.”
