Focusing on the modernization of power networks: Revanth Reddy to the officials

Hyderabad: Compared to last year, electricity demand this year hit a record 17,162 MW, an increase of 9.8%. It is estimated that energy demand will increase to 18,138 MW by 2025-2026 and 31,808 MW by 2034-2035.
Department of Energy officials told Chief Minister Ray Yangardi, while explaining the state of power in the state at a review meeting held in the energy sector on Friday. Officials explained to the Chief Minister that quality power is being provided without any disruption.
Authorities also informed Revanth Reddy of the advanced infrastructure for quality power supply in view of Hyderabad becoming a hub for data centers. The government has announced the establishment of a data city in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister asked officials to coordinate with the HMDA the energy demand for radial roads and satellite towns, which are being built within the Regional Loop (RRR) and upgrade the substation based on power demand at the site level.
Officials have been asked to focus on modernizing power networks. Revanth Reddy said underground power networks should be established in future cities, which clearly shows that there should be no towers, telephone poles and power cords in future cities. High tension lines should also be removed from there.
Smart telephone poles will be set up in the Secretariat, Necklace and KBR Park in a pilot project in Greater Hyderabad. Revanth Reddy ordered authorities to prepare solar power plans on a 160-km extension of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and asked them to check the feasibility of solar power generation on sidewalks and NALAS within GHMC restrictions.
