A fourth-grade medical student at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was found dead in a local tank on Thursday.
The body of Abhijith Joy, 24, was a Thrissur native of Kerala and was recovered from Bibinagar Cheruvu by local police.
According to Bibinagar inspector M. Prabhakar Reddy, Joy returned from his hometown on May 12 after starting his visit on April 25. He has reportedly not responded to the phone since Wednesday night.
“It is another student from Kerala who raised the alarm for the first time after repeated attempts to achieve joy,” the official said.
Joy’s father was an inspector of Kerala CID and was later told. Police searches resulted in the discovery of Joey’s scooter near the tank, and his body was recovered. The police have registered the case and are currently under investigation.
