Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad welcomes SC judgment

Hyderabad: The Hare Krishna movement in Hyderabad welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision which recognized Iskcon-Bengaluru as the legal owner of the famous Hare Krishna Hill Temple in the Karnataka capital. The group said in a press release issued Friday that the verdict brought relief to thousands of devotees who supported the teachings of ISKCON founder Acharya Srila Prabhupada.

The Hare Krishna Movement, formally managed by ISKCON-BENGALURU, said the verdict ended a 25-year struggle to maintain Srila Prabhupada, the only Acharya for the Krishna Invistness International Community (ISKCON). “Through this judgment, thousands of devotees around the world can peacefully accept Srila Prabhupada as Acharya in ISKCON and practice their beliefs without fear of persecution,” the release said.

The dispute began with Srila Prabhupada’s acquisition of Nirvana, and some ISKCON leaders claimed to be his successor.
