Hydraa Review Musi River Divide

Hyderabad: Hydraa officials held a meeting on the definition of Musi River on Friday and identified Musi’s Nala Network within the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The conference was chaired by Hydraa Ccommissioner Av Ranganath, focusing on identifying the boundaries of the Musi River and the drainage network within the ORR. Although Hydraa is not part of the Musi beautification project, it has received hundreds of complaints about the Musi River encroachment.

Experts recommend the use of village and income records, as well as hydrological reports, National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) satellite images, Indian survey records and old government documents around the Musi River catchment area to draw the boundaries of the river.

People’s blockage of rainwater drainage pipes has also attracted people’s attention. Authorities said there are 940 culverts under the GHMC, and almost everywhere, garbage and waste have accumulated, which does not allow the river to flow freely.

Officials also discussed many drains that lost their natural connections, which caused the bushes. Experts call for a comprehensive investigation of drainage pipes and appropriate action plans, involving various states and central agencies engaged in urban development.
