Seven people held for the kidnapping of young people

Thampanoor police have arrested seven young men on suspicion of kidnapping and assaulting another person late Wednesday.

According to police, a gang of 10 people allegedly kidnapped Thirumala’s 27-year-old Praveen alias Unni.

The persons seized in the case have been identified as Aswin Vijay, 20, and NS Nishad, 25, of Pappanamcode; Vishnu, 32, of Muttathara; Mujeesh Khan, 23, of Kattakada; Muhammed Kaif, 23, of Pravachambalam; M. Anu, 29, of Nemom.

Police said the incident was allegedly linked to the suicide of another young man, Poojappura native Vishnu, on Wednesday. This happened shortly after Vishnu was summoned by police to allegedly harass the complainant Unni’s sister. Police added that Vishnu’s friend later kidnapped and attacked UNNI in retaliation.
