A 38-year-old woman was killed and four other women hit the Cement Laden Lorry-Bangaluru Expressway (NH 44) at Girisamuthiram Village near Tirupattur in Chennai after being hit by a traveling Quannai.

Police said the deceased had been identified as Naziya Begam, a native of Vanibadi town. The initial inquiry revealed that Mohammed Iqbal (45), the coach of a private driving school, was with five light vehicle learners, who taught driving skills among a learner in Omnivan when he made a sharp turn. Truck driver V. Murugan (34) drove the van behind a stretched driving school bus, unaware that he had made a sudden turn and hit the vehicle in the car.

During the impact, all of Quannavan’s occupants were seriously injured. Immediately, other motorists and passers-by arrived at the scene and rescued the injured. They also reminded Vaniyambadi Taluk police and ambulance. The injured person was hired at the Government Taluke Hospital in Vanibadi Town. The case has been registered. On the route, traffic was affected for about half an hour. The truck driver was arrested. Detection is underway.
