Vijay Shah’s note line: Congress protests outside Raj Bhavan demand fire of MP minister

Congress protested outside Raj Bhavan outside Bhopal on Friday (May 16, 2025) to demand that Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah dismiss his recent inflammatory remarks against BJP Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, even as the BJP top leader insisted that the party would comply with the party’s orders.

The delegation of more than 15 Congressional MLAs, led by opposition leader Umang Singhar, called on Governor Mangubhai Patel to provide him with a memorandum and urge them to ask for it. Later, the master’s degree in black clothing held a demonstration outside the governor’s home.

Late on May 14, Colonel Qureshi, who was under Pahalgam attack in Madhya Pradesh High Court, filed a lawsuit against Mr. Shah as “the sister of the terrorist”. Suo Moto Know this. The court set a four-hour deadline and designated the section to which the Minister of Tribal Affairs was to be booked. However, the next day, the High Court expressed dissatisfaction with the content of the FIR. It said the report did not mention Mr Shah’s speech on May 12, which was evidence, adding that it would monitor the investigation.

Meanwhile, the state deputy chief minister Jagdish Devda sparked another controversy on Friday (May 16, 2025), saying in Jabalpur that “the entire country, the army and all personnel succumbed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in action”, which made the attackers stronger against attackers.

Congressional MLA is detained

Members of Congress were also briefly detained, and they erupted between the police who tried to evacuate them from Raj Bhavan.

Mr Singhar said on X after being detained: “The BJP is not in the military, nor is it the Constitution…it is only in the Chairman! History is a witness, and whenever the government becomes a dictator, the public bites the dust.”

Madhya Pradesh Congress director Jitu Patwari asked why the BJP did nothing against its two leaders, despite the High Court being called “the language of the ditch” by Mr Shah’s remarks, which the Supreme Court called them “shameful”.

“However, why is there no strict action against the two ministers? Is the BJP government protecting such inflammatory rhetoric?” asked Mr. Patwari.

Protest Drama: Mohan Yadav

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called Congress protests a “drama” and accused the opposition of “disrespect” the judiciary.

Yadav said: “No matter how much drama there will be, the party knows that the matter is in court and no one is above the court. There are also cases against the opposition leader (Mr. Singhal). Will Congress ask him to resign? Regardless of the opportunity to insult the court, Congress will not miss it,” Mr. Yadav said.

The chief minister also slammed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, saying she inflicted an emergency after the Allahabad High Court announced a verdict against her.

“Parliament has also changed the triple Tarak law given by the Supreme Court. We respect the orders of the court and we follow any orders of the court,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP has not yet filed a formal disciplinary action against Mr. Shah.
