Telangana urges KWDT-II to correct guaranteed irrigation abnormalities compared to AP in Krishna Basin

Telangana demanded the Krishna Water Dispute Tribunal, chaired by Justice Brijesh Kumar, to correct the abnormality in only 15% of the arable land area in the state’s Krishna Basin and provide guaranteed water in Andhra Pradesh to ensure irrigation of water of 95%.

Telangana’s argument was raised in court Friday, senior lawyers appearing for state CS Vaidyanathan said crop yields are impossible given the variability and uncertainty of rainfall and at least irrigation of dry (ID) crops are needed to sustain the livelihoods of farmers and farmers in backward areas of Telangana.

He suggested that since Telangana adopts a method of irrigation of water per TMC per TMC foot, the greater economics of irrigation should be considered for more national policies per drop of farming for ongoing projects, while AP specifies higher water – the TMC ft irrigated in existing projects only higher for irrigation of 8,400 acres.

Telangana’s lawyers also filed a notice to the court that the KWDT-I Prize ruled: “In fair distribution, the use of water that needs to be transferred outside the basin is relevant, but the weight of the use should be increased for the purpose of the use of water that needs to be carried out within the basin.” The future project considered by KWDT-I was a project conducted after September 1960, which distributed water only to the head of the basin internal projects.

However, the errand AP reassigned water to the Srisailam right bank canal project rather than reassigning it to Inside Basin projects such as the Srisailam Left Bank Canal Project. The lawyer stressed that it is necessary to modify the distribution of SRBC based on the KWDT-I Award.

He also explained before the Tribunal (KWDT-II) how the previous AP deprived SLBC of water distribution, which was taken from guaranteed water and advocated the distribution of reliable water to SLBC, an internal basin project.

In addition, he raised the court’s notice when AP is Jurala before KWDT-I, which is in the second priority project, the remaining water-based projects of SLBC and SLBC, which serve as the KC Canal and Krishna Delta system, prioritize other areas of the external watershed at the first priority level.

Mr. KWDT-II Justice Ram Mohan Reddy and Justice S. Talapatra and members of Chairman Brijesh Kumar also heard Telangana’s arguments. The court issued a further hearing on Telangana’s argument from July 23 to 25.
