V. Sofia, the daughter of a bus commander of Tamil Nadu State Transportation Corporation (TNSTC), scored 499 out of 500 points in the High School Leave Certificate (SSLC) exam.
Ms. Sofia attends Gokilambal in Kuzhavadayan near Jayamkondam to study in high school. She has obtained 100 resolution in English, science, mathematics and social sciences. In Tamil, she scored 99 years old. Her father, Venkatesan, served as the commander at the TNSTC in the Thanjavur region. Her mother, Sathya, was a housewife. Sofia’s brother Vignesh is studying engineering at the PSG Technical College in Coimbatore.
The Sofia house in Kurichi, a small village in Tagawar district, is 7 km from her school in the Ariyalur area. She had to travel 14 kilometers a day. Her school teachers, staff and students were inspiringly welcomed. Congratulations continue to pour in. After knowing her achievements, TNSTC (Kumbakonam) Managing Director R. Ponmudi and General Manager N. Muthukumarasamy succumbed to her.
Ms. Sofia said: “I know I’ll score well. But knowing that I’m a top hat was a pleasant surprise. I dedicated this achievement to my father, mother and brother.” She emphasized the contribution of school management and teachers to success, and she said that from the first week of the school year, teachers mentored and inspired her rights.
“My dad didn’t have time to sit with me because of his work schedule. He came a few hours after get off work. But it always motivated me to do well. He spent his income to educate me and my brother. By seeing his hard work, I decided to win a good name for my family. It has become a reality,” said Sofia, a doctor.
