Convicted child molester and former golf instructor Sean Lynch suffered new child sex crimes assault – only one year after jail

Fallen golf coach Sean Lynch, who was sentenced to jail for sexually abusing a young girl, faces only new child sexual charges a year after his release.

Lynch, 71, was once known as the “King of the Kids” because of his work coaching junior athletes, including former World One Jason Day.

However, while working as a mentor in Queensland, Lynch embellished and abused a gifted young girl, telling her that it would help her performance on the green.

Lynch kisses and caresses the girl, causing her to commit evil sexual acts on him, which Crown Attorney Chris Cook describes as “annoying and depraved behavior…because of his morbid, selfish sexual satisfaction.”

The crimes in 2018 and 2019 have suffered a huge trauma to the young girl and despite her outstanding talent, she is no longer able to play golf.

Lynch did not show remorse at the 2022 trial and pleaded not guilty to 11 charges. In the end, he was convicted of seven crimes.

The former mentor was sentenced to three years in prison but served only 18 months as the remaining sentences were suspended for five years.

Now, one year after his release, Lynch has been arrested and charged with two counts of serious sexual intercourse with a child between the ages of 14 and 16.

They were involved in alleged crimes against Lynch, known between 2017 and 2019 in the Murwillumbah area north of Byron Bay.

Lynch attended the Tweed Heads Police Department and was arrested Thursday.

Later that day, he appeared at Tweed Heads Court and was granted conditional bail after an unnamed person was granted $10,000 in guarantor.

According to court documents, it included that he had to hand over his Irish passport and not enter any starting point in Australia.

He also does not communicate with his so-called victim or father, or does not contact the child in the company of another adult.

Lynch will appear in court again at Tweed Heads Court on July 18.
