Bangladesh will no longer be allowed to export ready-made clothing to India using Indian land ports. Officials said the notice from the General Administration of Foreign Affairs issued in this regard will take effect immediately.
The same notice also ordered that specific goods in Bangladesh will be prevented from entering India through Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya and Mizoram.
“Bangladesh has recently imposed port restrictions on Indian yarn through land ports, allowing only our yarn exports to be exported through seaports. It has decided to repay this measure by imposing restrictions on Bangladesh imports on Bangladesh’s import ports.

From now on, Bangladesh’s ready-made clothing will be allowed to enter India only through Kolkata and Nhava Sheva (Mumbai), where the transport of goods will be subject to “mandatory inspections”, the official said.
On April 13, Bangladesh stopped exports of Indian yarn through land ports. Bangladesh also exported rice to Indian rice exports from April 15 through Hili and Benapole ICPS from West Bengal.
Project List
“India has decided to impose port restrictions in all LCS and ICPs in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura and Mizoram to designate Bangladesh to export to India, targeting locally produced goods,” the official said.
The designated items under this order will include ready-made clothing, plastic, wooden furniture, juices, carbonated beverages, fruit-flavored beverages, bakeries, candy, candy, cotton yarn and dyes.
Hindu It has been learned that the list of designated items will be reviewed from time to time. This order for the designated item will also be implemented through the LCSS located in Fulbari and Changrabandha in the north of West Bengal.
The official said Bangladesh is a major global textile producer and he has been “picky” on trade issues and India does not want it to continue to do so.
According to India’s estimates, at least 93% of Bangladesh’s exports to India’s exports pass through land ports.
Officials said considerable reflections on these economic and commercial measures were made, with the chief ministers of Northeastern states and West Bengal officials already informed of the decision. It is understood that the restrictions imposed on all designated projects of the Northeast LCS and ICP will help local manufacturing in the region.
From 2009 to 2024, during the tenure of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh and India invested in improving land ports, as these locations are crucial to strengthening bilateral trade relations. In November 2024, the interim governments of India and Bangladesh began discussions about the operation of some land ports around the clock. However, sources here show that the latest move by the Provisional Government in the political field, especially the ban on the Awami Alliance, shows that it is unwilling to create an inclusive environment in Bangladesh.
Hindu The steps were told that these steps were taken “to the Bangladesh Provisional Government led by Muhammad Yunus, who recently visited China, who described the northeastern state of India as “land lockdown.” Mr Yunus said: “The eastern part of India is known as the Seven Sisters.” They cannot enter the ocean. We are the only marine guardian in the area. This opens up huge possibilities. ”
Many people, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, criticized the claim. Earlier this month, Mr Yunus reiterated his vision for regional development in a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Nepal, including the Northeast of India, Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
