government. After the downpour, Vanibadi’s Taluke Hospital flooded

On Saturday, a large amount of Vaniyambadi Town, near Tirupattur, flooded the government Taluk Hospital.
A full day of heavy rain flooded the government of the Taruk Hospital in Vaniyambadi town on Saturday, causing trouble for patients and hospital authorities, who had to cross the knees deeply stagnant rainwater.
The hospital is located between the bus stop and the railway crossing point where it was in office in 1957, and has 144 beds. Hospital authorities said there are an average of 500 to 700 outpatient patients a day.
“For years, the hospital’s houses have been below road levels due to repeated repaving stretching exercises. In addition, drainage around the hospital has been blocked for many years.”
Residents say the hospital is the lifeline of major towns such as Vaniyambadi, Natrampalli, Alangayam, Jolarpet and Ambur. It is all over the clock and has most advanced facilities such as CT scanners, X-rays, operating theaters and adequate inventory of medicines.
In addition to major towns, more than 30 villages also rely on hospitals for timely medical services. But even if it’s just drizzling, it’s easy to get flooded.
The hospital is located in a low-lying area near Lake Kannamapudur, where invasion in the area has in turn caused flooding, city officials said. Additionally, a rainwater drain pipe built a few years ago. They cannot handle a large amount of flooding that is discharged from towns and lakes.
“City staff are draining stagnant water at the hospital premises. The drains around the facilities are also blocked. [Sewage Treatment Plant] Vaniyambadi Municipal Commissioner S. Musthaba told Hindus.
It will also rain in major towns like Ambur, Jolarpet, Vellore, Gudiyatham, Tiruvannamalai, Polur, Arakkonnam, Ranipet, Ranipet, Cheyyar and Vandavasi.
The downpour lasted for several hours, which brought much-needed relief to residents as they rose at high temperatures, reaching 40 degrees Celsius in recent weeks.
Farmer C. Kasi said: “High rains will help increase groundwater in the area as the agricultural season begins. This will reduce dependence on irrigated farmland on the pores.”
A rain-related accident claimed the life of a 38-year-old poultry farmer, K. Murugan, in Marudalam Village near Walajah town. He was electrocuted while trying to turn on the lights in the poultry shed during heavy rain. The case has been registered and the police are investigating the situation.
Authorities have been urged to improve maintenance of electrical systems to avoid such accidents.
