AAI may currently take over the operation of multi-level parking facilities at city airports

AAI prepares a tender that will likely float the bid shortly after the final decision of the board of directors is drawn.
The Airport Authority of India (AAI) may take over the multi-story parking facilities at Chennai Airport to resolve complaints about traffic congestion in remote cab pickup points and inlet and exit areas.
The existing contractor managed the aviation hub (large shopping facilities at the airport), parking lots and cab pick-up points, and notices of the AAI were terminated a few weeks ago. Sources said there have been several rounds of discussions in this regard since then.
“The board is expected to make a final decision on this issue next week,” a source said.
Meanwhile, it is understood that AAI has prepared a tender and will soon float bids in the final decision of the board. When new contractors take over, they need to operate two cab pickup points, one near the T1 terminal and the other in a multi-story parking facility. However, as far as aviation hubs are concerned, it is not clear whether AAI will take over, and the decision is on the board.
For months, air passengers have been excited about moving from the T1 domestic terminal (Nilling Flag Point) to the second floor cab pick-up point of the multi-story parking facility.
With the resumption of the demand for previous cab pickups, AAI began to consider the possibility of additional pickups. After that, the contractor submitted a termination notice to AAI, hoping to end the agreement on the loss.
Frequent air passenger Ram Kumar said: “It would be a great relief if passengers could take a taxi from an old pick-up point. I found it more convenient because it didn’t involve a long walk or an elevator to the aviation hub. I hope they could provide a second passenger for the soldiers in the town as early as possible.
