Alphabet CEO CEO Sundar Pichai is increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) in its operations on April 24, and now more than 30% of the new code is generated by AI tools. This is up 25% from October 2023, showing the company’s adoption of AI to increase productivity.

Pichai said on the earnings call in the first quarter that AI now plays a major role in the way the company operates internally, from coding to customer service and even preparing for earnings calls. He calls it a “transformative” technology and there is still a long way to go. Google is currently testing “agent workflows,” which means using advanced AI models that can handle tasks more independently and in-depth.

AI has been included in almost every part of the company. Pichai shared that all 15 Google products now have more than 5 billion users, and are now powered by the Gemini AI model. He also mentioned that there are now more than 250 million devices that can use new AI tools like “Circle to Search” on more than 250 million devices, while visual search using Google Lens has grown by 5 billion since October.

The tech giant continues to invest heavily in AI, planning to spend about $75 billion in capital expenditure this year to support AI research at Google Services Services, Cloud Operations and DeepMind. Gemini 2.5 is their most advanced AI model to date, industry-recognized for its performance, and is now used in mobile devices, Android, and even changing Google Assistant on your phone.

Despite impressive progress, Google is also facing serious legal trouble. The U.S. government is pushing for the company’s potential breakup after a federal judge ruled that Google violated antitrust laws related to online search and advertising. In another ruling, a judge found that Google monopolizes certain parts of the digital advertising market. Google plans to appeal some parts of the case.

Meanwhile, Alphabet’s financial performance this quarter was very high. Its total revenue grew 12% to $90.23 billion, while profits jumped 46% to $34.54 billion. Advertising brought in $66.9 billion, and revenue from the AI ​​services-powered cloud division increased by 28% to $12.3 billion.

In short, while Google is growing rapidly and becoming more dynamic than ever, it also faces challenges from governments focusing on its dominance.
