How YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra uses social media app to pass secrets to Pakistan

Haryana’s travel blogger and YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who has more than 370,000 subscribers on YouTube and 1.3 million followers on Instagram, arrested Hisar police in Hisar on suspicion of surveillance on Pakistan. The owner of the “Travel with Jo” channel was detained by the extension of the new Aggasna and booked under the Official Secrets Act and bharatiya nyaya nyaya sanhita. Police said Malhotra is in contact with Pakistani intelligence personnel regularly and shares sensitive information through WhatsApp, Telegram and Snapchat.

Malhotra’s YouTube channel (Malhotra) visits Pakistan’s YouTube channel with many videos including titles such as “Pakistan Indian Girl”, “Indian Girl Explore Lahore” and “Katas Raj Temple’s Indian Girl”. Investigators say her Pakistani handler is tasked with showing a positive image of Pakistan on social media.

How to launch espionage

According to the first information report (FIR), Malhotra met a man named Ahsan-ur-Rahim (also known as Denmark) during a trip to Pakistan in 2023. The two stayed in touch after returning to India. On a later trip, she met other Pakistani intelligence officials introduced in Danish. “She has admitted her role. Her travel history includes four visits to Pakistan and she has maintained encrypted communication with processors on WhatsApp, Telegram and Snapchat,” said DSP Kamaljit Singh.
Malhotra reportedly saved “Jatt Randhawa” by a surgical staff contact to avoid suspicion. Police found that she had close relationships with Pakistani intelligence personnel and even went to Bali, Indonesia with him.

Contact with the Pakistan High Commission

The investigation also revealed Malhotra’s connection with the High Commission for India-Pakistan. Last year, she accepted the so-called “special invitation” and participated in the IFTAR party hosted by the committee. A video from the event showed Malhotra meeting with Danes, later declared a non-grata figure, and was fired from India on espionage charges.

Malhotra also commented on the embassy setting: “I’m happy to meet him and arrange.” The Danes introduced her to other guests, saying, “She is YouTuber and vlogger. Her name is Jyoti. Her channel is called Travel with Jo. She has over 100k subscribers.” Malhotra also commented on the embassy setting: “See the embassy’s arrangement this time. It fascinates me. I’m so excited, super fool excited!” The video ended with a thank you letter from Denmark, thanking Malhotra for his participation. She saw her discussing Pakistan’s National Day with the Danes and his wife, and even asked about Indian attendees’ experiences of visiting Pakistan. Malhotra, Malhotra describes herself as “nomad Leo Girl” and “Wanderer Haryanvi + Punjabi + Punjabi” but she travels frequently on her channel, but she repeatedly talks to Pakistan tabecistan taunped Pakistan taunped Pakistan taunped Wissing. Police believe she used the presence of social media to shape a good narrative in Pakistan. Although she is from Hisar, she works most of her work in Delhi, and Pakistani officials allegedly helped her with visa extensions and accommodation on the go.

Her arrest was shortly after Punjab police detained two men, Malerkotla, in connection with similar spy cases involving staff from the Pakistan High Commission. DSP Singh confirmed that Malhotra passed sensitive information and promoted Pakistan’s positive views on the Indian platform. Investigators are now examining her equipment and bank transactions to reveal the full scope of the spy network.

Malhotra was brought to court and remanded for five days in police custody. The survey continues to be increasingly concerned about cross-border intelligence activities disguised as cultural or travel exchanges.
