U.S. Embassy denies reports of Palestinian relocation plans in Gaza

“The alleged plan to move Gaza people to Libya is incorrect,” the U.S. embassy said on the X platform.
The Tripoli-based Government of National Unity did not immediately comment.
Trump has previously said he hopes the United States will take over the Gaza Strip and its Palestinian population to be resettled elsewhere.
The Palestinians strongly rejected any plans involving their departure from Gaza, comparing this idea to the 1948 “Nakba” or “catastrophe” when hundreds of thousands of people were deprived of houses in the war that led to Israel’s creation.
When Trump first came up with his own ideas after taking office as president, he said he wanted our allies Egypt and Jordan to take over people from Gaza. Both states rejected the idea, an idea that sparked global condemnation, which Palestinians, Arab states and the United Nations say would constitute ethnic cleansing. In April, Trump said Palestinians could “transfer around to different countries, and you have a lot of countries that you can do.”
During his visit to Qatar this week, Trump reiterated his desire to take over the territory, saying he wanted to see it become a “free zone” without the rest to save.
Trump has previously said he wants to turn Gaza into a “Middle East Riviera”.
