Pope Leo XIV greets thousands of people from the pop car before historic Vatican inauguration

The 69-year-old Augustinian Missional was born in Chicago-based Robert Francis Prevost and became the first pope in the United States after being elected on May 8. Flags from the United States, Peru and the Vatican filled the squares with the crowd chanting “Viva Il Papa” while the new Pontiff stood and blessed the white, open-minded followers of the Mercedes G-Wagon.
