The California-based company plans to launch Haven-1, a single-model space station, on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in May 2026. With the mission’s lifespan of three years, Haven-1 is the pioneer of Haven-2, a pioneer of Haven-2, with broad hopes to become the successor of the International Space Station, which will be retained in 2031.
The International Space Station is a cooperative effort of the United States, Russia, Canada, Japan and the European Space Agency. China also launched its space station “Tianhe” in 2021 and maintained the existence of human beings in space.
“Some of the ideas you know are, maybe we can access our space station, but we can also access that space station and share capacity or share scale,” Haot told PTI here.
India plans to launch the first module of the Bharat Antariksh site in 2028 and complete it in 2035.

He added: “At present, the other two countries with human space flight capabilities (Russia and China) are not in the same acceptable region in the current political aspects of the United States. In 2023, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) signed a five-year, funded Space Act Agreement (SAA) with a huge, established purpose to help the company’s “concept mature and ultimately implement the Space Station Module.”
The Haven-1 spacecraft, with a volume of 45 meters, is designed to provide up to four crew members with an average of two weeks of mission. It consists of four crew dormitories for sleep, several mid-deck lockers for science modules, a common area for deploying tables and multiple crew interfaces.
“Currently, we are only focusing on SpaceX products, but we are interested in hearing about whether there are competitive, reliable, safe options that we can use to bring customers to our space station using Gaganyaan vehicles,” said Haot.
