A timely step to send MPs to key world capitals: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar: Following Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, opposition PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the centre’s decision to send a large amount of diplomatic advocacy to the world’s key global capitals by sending delegations of parliamentary members to present the country’s views on Sindoor operations and its position on cross-border terrorism.
“Sending MPs to various countries to explain the rationale behind Sindor’s action is a welcome and timely step. In today’s world, war only causes damage and is no longer a viable option, and diplomacy remains our most effective tool, even for the last policy.”
The former chief minister also said it would be more appropriate and democratic if the government also convened a special parliamentary meeting while sending delegations abroad. She attached a video to her post showing the recent damage caused by Pakistani shells in the J&K border area, as well as her visits to some affected families.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Abdullah called the centre’s move “good” and said it would help the country explain its views on the outside world.
Speaking with reporters, Abdullah recalled that the government had sent similar diplomatic propaganda to delegations around the world following the December 2001 parliamentary terrorist attack.
