The Minister said
Karnataka’s Commerce and Industry Minister MB Patil said Taiwan’s electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn is almost ready for launch and will start delivering iPhones in early June.
In Saturday’s X post, Patil said the iPhone Maker Foxconn unit of the Devanahalli Information Technology Investment Zone (ITIR) is preparing for the inauguration.
“Foxconn’s Devanahalli department is ready for the inauguration! Devanahalli Itir’s Foxconn facilities will be fully opened. Commercial iPhone shipments are expected to begin in early June,” he said.
Foxconn signed a contract with Apple to make an iPhone. The company has acquired 300 acres of land in ITIR Industrial Zone, located in Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluk in rural Bangalore.
Despite the current tariff situation, the launch of the new facility will mark a strategic shift as India becomes Apple’s preferred country, Patil said.
“This is not only another manufacturing milestone, but also marks a strategic shift. Despite the installation of geopolitical and tariff pressures, India has become Apple’s preferred manufacturing center.”
This development will further strengthen Karnataka’s position in the global manufacturing industry and open a larger door to foreign investment without compromising the interests of stakeholders.
The minister further said Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that in the June quarter, the U.S. will sell most iPhones in India.
“Most of the US iPhones are made in India,” Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed in the June quarter. “It was a proud moment as Kannadiga.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in his 2025-26 budget speech that Foxconn has set up a mobile phone manufacturing plant in the Devana Harry Industrial Zone with capital investment as ₹21.911 billion.
Donald Trump’s India Warning Apple
U.S. President Donald Trump recently asked Apple CEO Tim Cook not to make it in India, even if New Delhi offers the United States a “unrelated deal.”
“I had a problem with Tim Cook yesterday,” Trump said of his conversation with the CEO of Apple in Qatar.
“He is building India throughout India. I don’t want you to build in India. India can take care of itself,” Trump said during his trip to the Middle East.
