Heavy rain in parts of Kerala; IMD issued an orange alarm in three areas

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alarm in three parts of the state as heavy rains slammed Kerala on Sunday. IMD issued an orange alarm in the evening Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta areas.

It also issued yellow alerts in the Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod areas of the state.

The orange alarm means very heavy rain 11 cm to 20 cm, and the yellow alarm means heavy rain between 6 cm and 11 cm.
IMD also said that in all these areas, there are gusts of rain and gusts of wind in one or two places reaching 40 km.
