Civil Defense Preparation Exercise in Vijayapura Bellagave

Officials and personnel from various agencies participated in civil defense simulation exercises in the Bellagave and Vijayabra areas on Saturday (17 May 2025) and Sunday (18 May 2025).

On Saturday, in Bellagarve, officers organized a simulation exercise about a hydrogen tank explosion in which about 25 workers were rescued.

The Regional Disaster Management Bureau oversees drills at the Gold Plus factory in Kanagala Industrial Zone near Hukkeri. It is to demonstrate how various departments work together to quickly and effectively handle the explosion of hydrogen tanks in the plant and mitigate its consequences.

Officials arranged rescue operations for more than 25 workers after the hydrogen tank exploded and showed how the injured were treated by providing first aid in medical positions and taking them to Tarruk Hospital or regional hospitals. Up to 10 injured people were taken to a government hospital in Sankeshwar, where ambulances further treated 10 injuries and gave five injured first aids, and the bodies of two dead workers were taken to a government hospital to verify the autopsy.

Up to 200 factory personnel, 13 fire brigade personnel, 16 SDRF personnel, 30 medical personnel, and 20 revenue department personnel participated in the mock demonstration. Minister of Fire and Emergency Services Shashidhar Neelgara, Deputy Commander of SDRF S Sharanabasava, Regional Disaster Management Expert Ningana Gouda and others were present.

A similar simulation exercise was organized on Saturday in Almatti, Vijayabra District.

Bellagarve police and Bellagarve City Corporation organized a power outage simulation demonstration at night on Sunday to raise awareness about enemy attacks and citizen preparation. The event was attended near the Hanuman Temple in Hanuman Nagar. Officials say it aims to educate residents on fire safety and emergency response without causing panic.
