It will temporarily play a role on the campus of the Government Arts Academy in Kumbakonam. Part of the college’s old hotel will be used for accommodation vice-chancellors, registrars, etc. He visited the campus in preparation for facilities.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Higher Education inspected the campus. Steps were taken to implement all required infrastructure for officials to perform their duties and responsibilities.

Mr Chezhiaan said the university will operate in temporary facilities before the new building is constructed. The process of identifying a location suitable for the university has begun. A site covering about 60 acres on Kumbakonam and Valangaiman Road is being considered. Taxation Office officials were asked to provide details of the site and make a final decision as soon as possible.

Currently, Bharathidasan University in Tiruchi has jurisdiction over all the colleges of arts and sciences in the regions of Tiruchi, Karur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Nagapattinam. It has about 156 institutions to control it. Among them, the academies of Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Ariyalur and Nagapattinam are expected to be brought to the jurisdiction of Kalaignar University.
