The Metropolitan Department predicts that authorities have issued an alarm in the Kurnur and Anatapur areas after heavy rains in the coming days.
Kurnool district collector P. Ranjth Basha on Sunday directed officials to maintain vigil to avoid any loss of property or life and to monitor the situation continuously. The government has established a control room in regional collectors and asked people to contact 08518-277305 for any help or information delivery.
Mr. Basha urged people not to stay in open areas or under trees during heavy rains because of lightning strikes and asked farmers to shelter under the fields, cattle and sheep grazers.
Anantapur regional collector Dr. V. Vinod Kumar urges people to take risks only in emergencies. He said that since the past few days, there have been several streams, lakes and streams on the verge of overflow, given the continuous rain. He asked people not to cross these bodies of water, nor to travel on roads in heavy rain.
Mr. Kumar requested that people living near Tadakaleru, Pandameru, Penna, Hagari (Vedavathi), Chitravathi, Chitravathi, Kutaleru, Uppu Vanka and other bodies of water be on high alert. According to collectors, the total capacity of 146 small irrigation boxes in the area is 2,985 MCFT. By Saturday, 20 tanks had reached 100%, with another 20 tanks being 75%, 43 tanks filling to 50%, and 63 tanks filling to 25%.
