In Chennai, Pollachi, there are dormitories of over 1,100 police officers; TN CM Stalin unveils the foundation

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Monday (May 19, 2025) the foundation for building dormitories for police officers in Chennai and Coimbatore. Police officers will be built in Chennai and Pollachi in Coimbatore for about 1,100 quarters.

Official release said that while the dormitory of about 900 police officers will be built on site of luxury houses at a price of 1,000 lights, 220 police officers in Pollachi will be built for 76 crore rupees.

The Chief Minister also unveiled the foundations of the construction of the prison in Billichi near Coimbatore, where it will be relocated to the city’s central prison. In the first phase, the prison cells of male prisoners, a quarter of police officers and amenities cost Rs 21,11 crore.

Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Dheeraj Kumar, Director of Police Shankar Jiwal and senior officials were present.
