Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday (May 19, 2025), allegedly a derogatory term posted on its official social media against the official Deputy Chief Minister of Social Media Processing Brajesh Pathak, who asserted that in SP, the ideal behavior of SP may be futile, but civil society may reside in “Indecorne and condone and condore” and “Indecents”.

Mr Adityanath posted Mr Adityanath’s statement on social media platform XX, which may be futile, but civilized society cannot tolerate its indecent and vulgar statements. The top leaders of the Samajwadi Party should thoroughly review their social media processing and ensure that the language used is decent, restrained and respectful, he added.

The controversy broke out on May 16, and derogatory content allegedly targeting Mr. Pathak appeared on SP’s digital platform. In response, the BJP filed a massive protest in Lucknow on May 17, demanding strict action against those responsible for managing the SP’s social media accounts.

Under intensified pressure, SP President Akhilesh Yadav issued a statement calling on both sides to take control. “We will explain to our people, but you should also limit your language,” he said.

The episode marks the latest flash point in the ongoing political competition between two major political parties in Uttar Pradesh, with digital platforms increasingly becoming a battlefield for keen and often polarized exchanges.
