J&K border area returns to normal

Srinagar: After staying for about two weeks due to concerns about security concerns during the Indian-Pakistan military escalation, schools and other educational institutions reopened in the remaining 30 border areas and Kashmir on Monday, indicating a cautious return to normalcy.
Officials say the areas for resuming academic activities belong to the Line of Control (LOC) and International Boundaries (IB) in the Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu, Samba and Kathua.

They said the decision to reopen schools at the remaining 30 locations was also decided by the government to ensure a significant improvement in safety conditions. However, the district government has asked the school authorities to remain vigilant.
According to reports received here, after a forced break, the students returned to school excitedly and were happily welcomed by the teachers.
On May 14, schools and colleges closed in most parts of the Kashmir Valley during the first week of the month, but people who fell into the border areas such as Kupuwara, Balamura and Bandibola’s Gures department were closed for longer due to concerns. Schools and other educational institutions in the Jamu area will reopen on May 15, excluding the fragile border. Educational institutions have also closed the adjacent Punjab border area and reopened as the ceasefire agreed during the hotline contact between India Military Operations (DGSMOS) and Pakistan on May 10.
Indian troops have no expiration date on Sunday, as the armistice between the two countries (DGSMOS) has reached a stop to active hostilities. Responding to the report that appeared in a section of the media, which indicated that the ceasefire faced a critical deadline of May 18 and that the armistice may not last, a defense spokesman here said here: “There is no date for expiration.”
