The minister was born and raised in rural Nova Scotia and moved to Ontario in 1985.
According to PTI, Anand is the leader in the race to succeed Trudeau’s next prime minister, but in January she announced she was withdrawing from the competition and she would not seek reelection. Later, on March 1, she reversed the decision and said: “Canada is facing a critical moment in the history of our country.”
She was first elected to Oakville Parliament in 2019, according to the Canadian Prime Minister’s website. Previously, she served as Chairman of the Finance Committee, Secretary of Defense, and Minister of Public Services and Minister of Procurement.

Who is Kamal Khera?
Born in Delhi, India, Khera moved to Canada with her family while she was in school. The 36-year-old is one of the youngest women ever in Canadian Parliament.
According to the website, she was first elected to parliamentary member of Brampton West in 2015. Previously, she served as Senior Minister, Secretary of the Parliament of the Minister of International Development, Minister of National Taxation and Secretary of the Health Minister.
The website details that she is a registered nurse who worked as a nurse in the Oncology Department of St. Joseph Health Center in Toronto before entering politics.
“In the first wave of the Common 19 pandemic, she returned to her own registered nurse roots, volunteering in a tough long-term care facility in her hometown of Brampton. Secretary Kora continues to help on the front lines of the pandemic, including managing the vaccine in the community,” the website added.
Khera wrote in an article on X that her priority is to support the patient there, which she continued, is the same mentality she will bring to her new role.
“It’s time to roll up our sleeves and start working,” she said in the post.
As a nurse, my first priority is always there to support my patients, and that’s the mentality I have every day as Health Minister.
The new Prime Minister of Canada’s cabinet, with 13 men and 11 women, is smaller than the former PM Trudeau’s 37-member group.
