Assam rifle recorded a photo on social media platforms on Monday (May 19, 2025) showing a group of men in paramilitary uniforms, comparable to the flags of extremist groups.
X User posted photos of 21 people in the Assam rifle unity during the ruling parade of Assam rifle unity on the Prime Minister’s Office and the interior minister Amit Shah, along with the flag of the Zomi Revolutionary Army.
The outfit is one of the armed groups accused of participating in the Manipur racial conflict, which broke out in May 2023 and claimed at least 250 lives.
Assam rifle posted on X: “According to confirmation, the authenticity of the photos will be verified.
“Assam rifles remain committed to maintaining the spirit of the troops,” the paramilitary force said.
“National parade or rebel display? Assam rifles are seen through the parade, symbols of young recruits, discipline and national service with the flag of Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), an armed rebel group located in Myanmar. Why is this flag allowed at a government military ceremony held by the government under @HMOIndia?” the user wrote.
“It’s not just symbolic chaos. It undermines national integrity and conveys a disturbing message. The Indian people expect clarity, loyalty and accountability of those who wear uniforms,” the post reads further.
