“I thought I was going to die”: British tourists rescued horror from the 8-foot hole he dug on a Brazilian beach, but admitted that “I think it’s just the guy you went to the beach to dig a hole”

A British man trapped in an eight-foot hole on a Brazilian beach tells him how he “thinks he’d die” before being rescued by locals in a horrible three-hour misery.
Jensen Sturgeon celebrated his 22nd birthday in Rio de Janeiro while on vacation with friends on April 26, when the group decided to visit the iconic Copacabana Beach.
Mr Sturgeon, a luggage handler at Gatwick Airport, started digging holes when his friends were sunbathing and even handed a shovel by a confused worker to help his efforts.
But upon reaching eight feet he bumped into the water and led the sand around him to collapse, jamming the British.
Mr Sturgeon told MailOnline: “My partner started sunbathing and I thought digging a hole was a good idea.
“We found about eight feet deep at that time, then discovered the water, and then everything fell on me.
“My head is even under the beach. I tried to yell for my companions and I knew they couldn’t hear me.
After fighting the sand, Mr. Sturgeon managed to free his head and seek help, and about 30 people gathered around him to get him out.
Jensen Sturgeon, 22, was on vacation in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil when he was trapped in wet sand and dug an eight-foot hole by himself, which took three hours to get from

“Everything in my mind is, that’s it. I really thought I was going to die that day.
The crowd spent three hours saving the tourists, pulling him to the ground with a piece of wood, shovel and rope.
Once, he was even handed a beer and he drank to keep it hydrated.
He ended up getting cheers and applause from onlookers when some filmed the dramatic rescue.
Mr Sturgeon said: “I couldn’t stand it correctly when I left. Everyone tried to talk to me, but I just had to sit down. My legs were sour for the rest of the holiday.
