The decision to build BR Ambedkar Open University and Potti Sriramulu Telugu University is quick
Recognizing the urgent need for institutions such as BR Ambedkar Open University (Braou) and Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, while the TDP-led NDA coalition government lost the legacy of Andhra Pradesh for Telangana when it forked, an institution of two universities.
“The final decision on this issue may come within a week,” said Kona Shahidhar’s chief secretary of the Department of Higher Education.
Speech HinduMr Shashidhar said the government does not intend to change the name of Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, which can start right away from here as the new institution does not require a massive campus.
With distance learning and online programs enabling education for even remote areas where higher education opportunities are limited, aspiring people in Andhra Pradesh have been waiting for the facility for 11 years.
The BRAOU’s AP State Reorganization Act Schedule No. X and the forking process of the university (52:48 respectively) (the distribution of assets and liabilities between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana respectively) has not been completed.
The country was established on 26 August 1982 at the Open University of Andhra Pradesh, the first open university in the country. On October 26, 1991, it was renamed Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University.
The cost of students is telangana
Andhra Pradesh has 76 university centres, with 26 regular employees, 13 pensioners and 456 part-time employees. Students engaged in graduate, graduate and diploma programs through these study centres are charged an annual fee of Rs 1,636 crore and paid to the University Management of Telangana.
But the Andhra Pradesh government pays salaries, pensions and other cash benefits to employees and pensioners in the state.
“The Rs 16.36 crore we pay to Telangana annually include a grant of about Rs 4.55 crore, and the Rs 11.6 crore paid by students in Andhra Pradesh is Rs 11.6 crore, and about Rs 9.9 crore charges about Rs 9.9 crore of admission.”
“It is not a financial burden to start our own university here, as the fees charged from students can be used to meet the immediate needs of the initial stage,” Mr. Josh said.
Meanwhile, Braou management in Hyderabad denied the permission of Andhra Pradesh students to attend their courses starting in the 2024-25 academic year, citing Article 5 (1) of the AP State reorganization, the program was for a decade, when Hyderabad was Hyderabad as the general capital of the large Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
However, students from Andhra Pradesh’s ongoing batch processing can complete the course, but they are allowed to switch to online mode in June.
Since January this year, university employees working at the research centre in Andhra Pradesh have not received salaries as Braou Management refuses to base on a 10-year period of failure and the Andhra Pradesh government pays it.
Three campuses
The same is true for Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. The institution is unable to enroll in three campuses in Srisailam, Rajamahendravaram and Kuchipudi in 2024-25 because the Andhra Pradesh business of the University of Hyderabad was injured.
Founded in 1985, the university is the main teaching center for language, history, culture, fine arts, performing arts, religion and Telugu-speaking people.
“We have 25 acres of land in Rajamahendravaram and some infrastructure that can be used to start new facilities,” said OSD.
Stakeholders believe that the government can help them save the school year at least by operating two agencies in Andhra Pradesh as early as possible.
