Minister of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Y. Satya Y. Satya Kumar Yadav On Tuesday, the Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC) assumed not only the responsibility of not only granting and renewing the registration of doctors.
The minister attended the oath-in ceremony of six nominees at the NTR Health Science Interim APMC in Vijayawada, who should now investigate the issue of awarding permanent registration to qualified foreign medical graduates after checking their certificate of compensation without any delay.
“APMC is an important institution. Usually, it has 23 members, including 13 elected, 6 nominated and 4 Ex-Octicio members. The system has not been followed in the past few years. However, this time we will make sure all 23 members are in place,” the minister said, and the chairman will be elected soon.
He said that the council responsibilities were listed and he said members should monitor the behavior and performance of healthcare professionals in the state to ensure quality healthcare is provided to the people. He said health care should not be reduced to a business, adding that doctors should treat everyone with sympathy.
The minister said some changes were requested, indicating that the prescription of indiscriminate antibiotics should be stopped and natural delivery should be encouraged.
The six nominees who took the oath were: Gogini Sujatha, MD (Pulmonary Medicine), Professor of Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Foundation for Medical Sciences and Research; Kalavakollu Venkata Subba Naidu, Professor of Ongole Pulmonary Medicine; Daggumati Srihari Rao, radiologist, former vice chairman, APSMC, Tirupati; Swarma Geetha, gynecologist in Podili, Prakasam District; S. Kesava Rao Babu, IMA, President of Vijayawada, MD, Chunduri Malliswari, MD, from Bhimavaram.
Director of Medical Education DSVL Narasimham and APMC Registrar I. Ramesh were present.
