Gujarat Titans’ big setback returns home for personal reasons

GT is the 2022 champion, and before last year’s IPL season, it received service from Pacer at last year’s big auction to reach Rs 1,0775 crore.

Gujarat Titans’ fast Kagiso Rabada returns to South Africa from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season for personal reasons. He played in the first two games of the first two games of IPL 2025, with his bowling match against the Punjab Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and 1-41 bowling against the Mumbai Indians.

Due to these personal matters, Rabada missed GT’s recent eight-goal victory over Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. “Kagiso Rabada returns to South Africa to participate in important personal affairs,” a statement from Gujarat Titans confirmed on Thursday.

The franchise has not specified when Labada will be back with the IPL 2025 team. GT is the defending champion of 2022, providing services to Labada of Rs 1075 crore in a large auction ahead of last year’s IPL season.

Rabada scored 119 wickets with an average score of 22.29 with an economic speed of 8.53 with 82 IPL games. He has previously played for the Delhi Capital (2017-2021) and the King of Punjab (2022-2024) in the IPL. His outstanding season was in 2020, when he played 30 wickets in 17 games, won the purple hat and helped DC reach their first IPL finals.

Currently, GT’s fast bowling lineup includes Mohammed Siraj, who played a role with Prasidh Krishna, Ishant Sharma, Gurnoor Singh Brar, Kulwant Khejroliya and All-Rounder Arshad Khan in his recent defeat to RCB.

Among overseas players, GT has Gerald Coetzee from the South African national team. With two straight wins, GT will face the IPL 2016 Sunrisers Hyderabad this Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
