In his absence, Raj Angad Bawa was summoned by Captain Hardik Pandya. But who is he? Bawa is a fast all-around player who has been in the spotlight after giving five tickets to England and leading India to win the 2022 U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup final. In the game, Bawa averaged 252 points in just 5 innings, an average of 63, including 162* against Uganda, while selecting 9 wickets.
He was born in Nahan (Himal Pradesh) and he grew up in Chandigarh. Raj is an emerging Indian cricketer known for his all-round ability. He hit the ball with his left hand and his right arm at medium speed. The 22-year-old plays for Chandigarh in domestic cricket. His father, Sukhwinder Bawa, was the leading cricket coach in Chandigarh and gave Raj his first cricket lesson. IPL debut
Raj made his debut with the Punjab Kings in 2022. He represented the team in two games that season. In 2023, he failed to win any competition and was released before the 2024 auction. Raj was received by Mumbai Indians (MI) for Rs 30 million in IPL 2025 Mega-auction. On April 4, Raj entered the Mumbai Indians XI, but had no time to show his skills as his team suffered a 12-shot defeat by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Raj is an intermediate batsman who can make aggressive knocks in the middle stages.
Raj made his debut in Chandigarh in February 2021-22 against Hyderabad in February 2021-22. He delivered a ticket gate for the first time. Bawa has played 11 first-class and roster games in every game in his young career and has also competed in 20 T20 games. He won a first-class one hundred and took two four-goal passes in cricket.
