CB-CID Investigation Ordered Defendant Suspicious Death in Elephant Poaching Case

The crime branch of Tamil Nadu Police will investigate the death of G. Senthil, a 28-year-old poacher in Kongarapatti village in the Ffarapuri area, who allegedly escaped the burnt body from the custody of forest officials.
On March 1, 2025, an elephant’s broken and burnt body was found in the Neruppur Forest Mountains in Pennagaram Taluk in Dharmapuri District and was detained by forest officials, according to official reports.
The Forest Department registered a case, arrested Senthil and conducted inquiries. However, the suspect reportedly escaped from the forest with handcuffs. Four other people allegedly involved in the case were arrested and held under judicial custody.
The case was registered by the Forester in Pennagaram Range, the suspect attacked forest officers and escaped while handcuffed.
In this case, forest officials received information about the decomposition of male bodies in the Sarakadu Forest area of Congalapati. The deceased was later identified by his relatives as Senthil, who raised doubts about the circumstances that led to his death.
The release added that, given the severity of the problem, both cases were transferred to CB-CID for further research.
