BJP aims to win over 27 seats in the 2027 Goa Parliament poll: CM Sawat

Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the ruling BHARATIYA JANATA Party (BJP) has set a goal to win more than 27 seats in the 40-member Goa Parliament in 2027.

Speaking to party workers in the state capital Panaji on Wednesday, Sawant undoubtedly will retain the power of the Centre under Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next election (2029).

The Chief Minister said that due to the Prime Minister’s vision, the BJP’s Statistics Bureau will rise to more than 300 in the next Lossaba election.

The center’s ruling National Democratic League (NDA) won 293 seats in the election of 543 members Lok Sabha last year, while the BJP bagged 240 seats.

In the 2022 Goa Parliament poll, the BJP won the largest party by winning 20 seats, only about half, and gained support from the regional clothing MGP and 3 independent MLAs, and formed its government for the third consecutive time in the coastal states.

“We have to make sure that in 2027 we have more than 27 parliamentary seats in Goa,” Thorent said, adding that the party’s voting share should increase from the current 33.36% to 52%.

Senior BJP leaders urged party officials to contact voters and inform them of various plans of the center and state governments.
“We will have to emphasize the achievements of the central and state governments in terms of human resources and infrastructure development,” he said.

CM said he was optimistic that BJP would win more than 27 seats in Goa and that the dedicated efforts of its cadres would win in Goa.

Following the incident, BJP Goa President Damodar Naik said it was necessary to train discipline among the party’s legislators.

He claimed: “When we formed the government in 2001, the party had discipline. Now, after winning three or four consecutive elections, there is a lack of discipline.”

Naike added that the masters should listen to people’s voices.
