India gets 90-day respirators as the U.S. suspends 26% tariffs on July 9 | India News

A White House executive order said the United States announced that it would impose a 26% tariff on New Delhi on April 2. The suspension will take effect on July 9 this year. The 90-day breathing is consistent with President Donald Trump’s statement, who said those retaliators who do not tariffs on us will be rewarded. On the other hand, the United States imposed 134% tariffs on China.

“Commodities withdrawn from or after 12:01 AM Eastern Daylight Saving Time on April 10, 2025 are valid and the order suspends the implementation of Article 3(a) of 14257. However, the 10% benchmark tariff imposed on these countries will remain in place.

India is reportedly one of the countries leading tariff negotiations with the United States. New Delhi is conducting rapid trade arrangements with the United States until the free trade agreement is finalized, the report said.

On April 2, U.S. President Donald Trump fulfilled a universal duty to export goods to the United States, as well as additional taxes on countries such as India, which could affect sales from shrimp to steel in the world’s largest economy. The move aims to reduce its trade deficit and promote domestic manufacturing.

The United States imposed a 26% import tax on India. Tariffs are high for competitors such as Thailand, Vietnam and China.

This suspension of tariffs does not apply to China, including Hong Kong and Macau.

Paragraph 2 of Article 3(a) of the Executive Order issued on April 2 refers to the implementation of mutual tariffs. It includes Annex 1 listing tariff rates for different countries.
