Army Kills JCO in LOC encounter of Jamu

Check mu: Officials said Saturday that a junior commissioning officer of the military (JCO) was killed here when he met terrorists at the Line of Control (LOC) in the Akeno region, but their infiltration bid was thwarted. They said the alert army approached a group of armed terrorists on Friday night near a stream in the former forest environment in Keri Bhattal area and challenged them, leading to a fierce gunfight that lasted for some time.
Officials said the JCO was injured during the encounter and later succumbed to the injury, adding that the entire area had been related to the deployment of reinforcements and a search operation was conducted when the last report was received.

On February 11, two Army personnel, including a captain, were killed in the same area, and another soldier was injured when the terrorists proposed the IED.

The latest incident occurred two days after India and Pakistan held a brigade commander-level flag meeting in Pangshi district of Chamu and Kashmir to discuss issues related to border management.

This is the second meeting of such since February, aiming to ease tensions, after nearly 12 cross-border shooting incidents and IED attacks.
Indian troops protested strongly against cross-border terrorist activities and ceasefire violations.

Ceasefire violations along the LOC are very rare since India and Pakistan renewed the Ceasefire Agreement on February 25, 2021.

On April 5, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel shot and killed a Pakistani invader on the international border of the RS Pura department, and later held a flag meeting with Rangers during the incident.
