Paracad: RSS founder KB Hedgewar filed a complaint against the president of the BJP Palakkad region after escalating with Congress on Saturday after a row of the Skill Development Center named for people with disabilities, after he was suspected of threatening remarks against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil.
Congress, Youth Congress and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists on Friday destroyed the foundation stone paving ceremony at the Skills Development Centre organized by the BJP-ruled city of Palakkad.
After the interference, the regional president of the Saffron Party Prasanth Sivan said on the same day that MLA MAMKOOTATHIL in Parakad will not be allowed to step into the area.
A source said Congress has complained to the police.
Responding to reporters’ questions about the comments from the BJP leaders, Mamkootathil said on Saturday that as long as he has legs, he will stand firmly on them against RSS.
“If they cut off my legs, I will use my remaining body to speak with the RSS. To stop me from talking, they will have to cut off my tongue. Even so, I will continue to fight against RSS. So, I am not worried about this threat.
“I am a People’s Representative, unlike the BJP regional president,” MLA said.
On Friday, after Congress, YC and DYFI activists tried to stop the foundation stone laying ceremony, and the BJP had marched to the regional offices of the older party, shouting slogans to support Hedgewar.
DYFI, Congress and YC activists who undermined the event said they were not against the project, but rather against naming them after the founder of the RSS.
The Palakkad city president and vice-chairman questioned what the name was and said the project was more important.
Later, the same day, Mamkootathil raised a protest after Hedgewar, named after the Center for Skill Development, noting that Congress would oppose the initiative through strong incitement.
He also claimed that there was no proposal before the municipal council to name the project after Hedgewar and said that legal recourse would also be adopted.
