Minister said safe drinking water will be provided in summer

Vijayawada: Consumption Tax Minister Kollu Ravindra said the state government has taken comprehensive measures to ensure safe drinking water supply during summers at Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation and Pedana, Machilipatnam and Guduru Mandals.

The minister visited summer tanks in Tarakaturu near Machilipatnam on Saturday and discussed water, current storage levels and the number of motors operating with engineering officials. He reviewed infrastructure developed under a comprehensively protected drinking water supply program, including storage tanks, aerators, hydraulic floats and pump rooms. He personally tested the chlorination of water in the test tube.

Ravindra stressed that there should be no mistakes in ensuring safe drinking water for people. He revealed that to prevent shortages during peak summers, Machilipatnam’s Tarakaturu CPW program and Pumpula Cheruvu are filling. The necessary pumps have been arranged and other motors will be deployed if needed.

The minister said the Tarakaturu Summer Solive Tank said the total capacity is 5.1 meters and currently has 4.5 meters of drinking water. Machilipatnam Pumpula Cheruvu currently has 8 feet of water and is taking steps to raise the level to 13 feet, he said.

Ravindra stressed that the regional government is constantly monitoring the water levels in all storage tanks to prevent scarcity over the next 70 days. He added that instructions were also issued to NHAI officials to resolve water leakage along the Tarakaturu-Machilipatnam route.

It is worth noting that the minister announced that the construction of a new filter bed for Machilipatnam has been approved for Rs 24 billion. He added that once the bidding process is completed, the work begins.
