A 66-year-old woman dies

Hyderabad: A 66-year-old woman, Sistla Surya Lakshmi, allegedly died of medical negligence at the Medquest Diagnostic Center in KPHB, police reported on Tuesday. Her son, Sistla Venkata Abhishek, now 34, reached out to the police.
Lakshmi was referred for a CT dog scan on Tuesday after undergoing a continuous nasal discharge, according to investigator Lingam. At the diagnostic center, the contrast dye is given before the scan. Abhishek claimed in the complaint that the drug was not necessary for clinical preventive measures or allergic tests, which reportedly resulted in cardiac arrest. He also claimed that staff did not provide intubation on time, but instead accused the family of not providing consent.
Abhishek claims the hospital lacks emergency measures. After the incident, the patient was transferred to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. “There are multiple examples of negligence during treatment. Despite obvious signs of distress, intervention was delayed and proper medical procedures were not followed,” Abhishek said.
Based on this, KPHB police registered the case. Further investigation into the incident is underway. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Gandhi Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
