A big blow to Kavya Maran's SRH in the middle of the IPL, the main player was excluded from… 22-year-old cricketer to replace him

IPL 2025: Before their SRH clashed with DC today, Kavya Maran's team had signed the all-around 22-year-old cricketer for Rs 3 million to replace Smaran Ravicandran.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) suffered another setback in the disappointing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 campaign, with 22-year-old Karnataka batsman R Smaran ruled out due to injury. According to Espncricinfo, Smaran, who replaced Australian spinner Adam Zampa in the team earlier this season, will now be replaced by the demanding Dubey.
Dubey, 22, is Vidarbha's left-arm spinning all-rounder. He set a record 69 wickets in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, giving Ashutosh Aman a headline news previously with 68 wickets in one season. His impressive performance helped Vidarbha cancel this year's Ranji title.
Dubey joined SRH at a base price of INR 3 million, but while he shines in red ball cricket, he has been performing very little in limited format so far. He scored 21 wickets in the 20th list, with an average of 34.66, and the economy was 6.78 in 16 innings. Still, his Ranji's success improved his reputation before his IPL job.
SRH's season is far from ideal. After reaching the IPL 2024 final, they have won only three of their ten games this year and are ranked ninth. Even if they win the remaining four games, they can only reach 14 points, meaning their playoffs hopes to rely on slips and falls from other teams. Worse, their net run rate of -1.192 is the worst of all teams, including the already banished Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Before the game against the Delhi Capitals (DC), Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori clarified that there are no concerns about an over-paced pacemaker, Mohammed Shami, and that veterans are working hard and working hard in the Nets to turn things around for themselves.
Shami entered the IPL after winning a solid ICC trophy title for India, scoring nine wickets at 25.88 in five games and named after five tickets. Since returning for more than a year since his injury, Shami has managed 14 wickets in nine international games, an average of 27.64.
However, Shami's IPL count has been disappointing, adopting only six scalp in nine games, with an average of 56.16 and an economic speed of 11.23.
